Six trucks were impounded at border checkposts in Krishnagiri on Wednesday (July 29, 2026) for attempting to transport quarried stones. The move comes after the three-month ban imposed by the State government prohibiting the inter-State movement of mined minerals.Two trucks were impounded at Zuzuvadi checkpost and two each were impounded at Kumalapuram in Thally checkpost, and along Krishnagiri-Bagalur checkpost.Earlier, Collector C. Dinesh Kumar announced setting up of a control room to monitor the GPS-tagged trucks licenced to transport mined minerals across the border. Surveillance along the borders has been heighten to enforce the ban.The crackdown comes less than two days after the State government announced a temporary ban on the transport of minerals, including rough stones, M-sand, and other quarried minerals used for construction activities. The temporary ban is based on the need to secure these resources for use in construction activities within the State, protect ecology, restrain extractive mining, and safeguard road infrastructure from damage caused by multi-axle vehicles.
