The US military said on Tuesday it intercepted ballistic missiles launched by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) at American forces stationed in the Middle East, adding that its troops remain on the highest level of alert.
It said the IRGC fired several ballistic missiles from inside Iran at 5:45 pm Eastern Time (9:45 pm GMT), targeting US forces deployed across the region.
The military said all the missiles were successfully intercepted and that there were no immediate reports of casualties or damage.
It added that US forces continue to maintain maximum readiness while closely monitoring developments.
Separately, Axios, citing a US official, reported that Iran fired ballistic missiles towards a US military base in Jordan, adding that air defences intercepted the missiles.
