Greece’s defense industry is picking up speed, as an ecosystem has recently been created in which state organizations and large industrial groups participate, while technology companies with headquarters in various parts of the country have now entered a combat position for good. The “key” are drones made in Greece, which have spread their wings for new international markets, given the strong demand that has been observed recently for state-of-the-art defense systems.
On Monday, the strategic cooperation between the Greek company Altus LSA, which develops and designs unmanned systems (drones), and Shield AI from the US, which was founded in 2015 in San Diego, was announced, with the aim of developing a new generation of unmanned aircraft.
The American company specializes in the development of autonomous systems and artificial intelligence for military applications, strengthening its presence in Greece, with the V-BAT vertical take-off and landing unmanned aircraft at the forefront.
During Monday’s press event, the autonomous unmanned platform was described as having the ability to remotely monitor and control targets either in the air or on the ground at long distances and for a long period of time. With this partnership, Altus’ technology, through the KMB unmanned aircraft, is being integrated into the V-BAT, in order for the latter to be additionally armed with capabilities for intervention in the field and immediate neutralization of threats.
