The ANC backs President Cyril Ramaphosa's legal challenge to the halted parliamentary process regarding the Phala Phala matter, as Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula clarifies the party's stance amid the unfolding controversy.
ANC Secretary -General Fikile Mbalul outlined the party’s programme to renew local government, advance economic transformation, strengthen anti-corruption efforts, uphold constitutional governance, manage migration lawfully and prepare for 2026 elections on Tuesday in a media briefing.
The ANC backs President Cyril Ramaphosa’s legal challenge on the parliamentary process following the Phala Phala matter, says ANC secretary-general Fikile Mbalula, saying the process must be allowed to follow the law.
He said the order paused the parliamentary process and did not terminate it, during a media briefing on Tuesday. Mbalula said the party wanted South Africans to understand the Western Cape High Court’s decision.
The comments come after the Western Cape High Court on Friday granted Ramaphosa an interim interdict suspending public hearings by Parliament’s Section 89 impeachment committee pending the outcome of his review application against the independent panel report that paved the way for the process.
