KORONADAL CITY — A 43-year-old man was arrested after police recovered at least P1 million worth of suspected shabu from a car he rented following an inspection in Surallah, South Cotabato, on Monday afternoon.According to the Surallah Municipal Police Station (MPS), the vehicle, a blue Suzuki Dzire with plate number GBF 8005, was brought to the police station at around 4:10 p.m. after the owner of CK Car Rentals sought police assistance.
READ: 2 arrested in P500,000 ‘shabu’ buy-bust in KoronadalThe owner, identified only as “Kent,” said the vehicle’s GPS showed it was heading toward Cotabato City instead of General Santos City, which was the agreed destination under the rental contract.At the police station, the renter and the vehicle owner agreed that the renter would pay an additional P1,500 for the unauthorized change in route.Before accepting the vehicle, the owner conducted a routine inspection in line with company policy. While checking the glove compartment, he found three large heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing white crystalline substances suspected to be shabu.The owner immediately informed the duty police officer, who verified the discovery. Police then arrested the renter.The suspect was identified only as alias “Jose,” 43, a married farmer and a resident of Barangay Edwards in Tboli, South Cotabato.Police said the seized suspected shabu weighed about 150.18 grams and had a value of P1,021,224.The seized items were marked, inventoried, and photographed at the place of arrest in the presence of a media representative and an elected barangay official, in accordance with police procedures.The suspect is expected to face charges for violating Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./coa
