A woman gave birth inside the toilet of a private hospital at Akampadam near Nilambur and reportedly dumped the newborn in a bucket on Monday night (July 27). The baby was found dead by the hospital cleaning staff on Tuesday morning (July 28).The police said the woman, a native of Chaliyar, had arrived at the hospital with her husband around 11 p.m. on Monday, complaining of severe abdominal pain. During the examination, doctors found that she was suffering from excessive bleeding and advised that she be shifted to another hospital for specialised treatment.The police said the woman entered the hospital toilet, purportedly to change her clothes, where she delivered the baby and left the newborn in the bucket. She then came out and travelled with her husband in an ambulance to the District Hospital at Nilambur.On discovering the newborn’s body in the toilet, hospital authorities alerted the police on Tuesday morning.
