The two-month-old baby girl, who was reported missing from the Government General Hospital (GGH) in Anantapur on the intervening night of July 27 and 28, 2026, was found within the hospital premises, and her condition is said to be stable.According to GGH Superintendent Dr. Malleshwari, the infant, daughter of Pujitha and Ashok Kumar from Mamidakulapalli village in Sri Sathya Sai district, was admitted to the GGH on July 22 for treatment as she suffered from seizures.Around 1 a.m. on Tuesday (July 28), Ms. Pujitha, along with her husband, mother-in-law, and other family members, informed the hospital staff that the baby was missing. The hospital security personnel and police outpost staff immediately launched a search operation within the hospital premises, and the infant was located and moved to the recovery room within approximately 20 minutes.The 11-Town police arrived at the scene and launched an investigation. Preliminary investigations revealed that Mr. Ashok Kumar’s mother had placed the infant in an open area on the hospital premises. “Details regarding the incident will emerge during the course of the investigation,” the superintendent said, adding that the infant is currently undergoing treatment in the ICU.The infant’s health condition is currently stable, Dr. Malleshwari said, adding officials from the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) also visited the hospital and inquired about the infant’s condition.
