Former CEO of Pro Secure Ferrel Govender at the Durban High Court.
Emotion overwhelmed a state witness in Durban High Court on Tuesday, as she testified about the condition she found her friend in at a hospital in Umhlanga.
The friend, who was romantically involved with former security boss Ferrel Govender, had sustained various injuries after allegedly being assaulted by him on December 22, 2024.
“She was bruised all over her body — her legs, her hands, and her back. Her face was three times its normal size,” the witness testified before becoming visibly emotional, said the witness who cannot be named for security reasons.
She also told the court that she was opposed to any attempt by the couple to reconcile because she believed her best friend had been subjected to ongoing physical abuse by Govender.
