The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Tunji Disu, has approved a major reshuffle involving senior officers of the Nigeria Police Force, ordering the immediate redeployment of nine Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) to strategic commands and formations across the country.

The directive was conveyed through a police wireless signal issued by the Force Secretariat, Abuja, on Monday, July 27, 2026 obtained by SaharaReporters.

The signal, titled "Posting Senior Officers" and marked "Most Immediate," was addressed to all major police departments, zonal commands, state commands, specialised formations and training institutions across the country for immediate implementation.

According to the police wireless message, referenced TH.5361/FS/FHQ/ABJ/SUB. X Posting Senior Officers, the Inspector-General ordered the posting of the affected AIGs as follows: AIG Polycarp Emeka Nwonyi has been posted to Zone 9 Command, Umuahia.
