Russia is conducting a deliberate campaign against Ukraine's grain exports and attempting to block maritime trade routes in the Black Sea, posing a threat to global food security.
Ukraine's Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN Volodymyr Pavlichenko said this at a UN Security Council meeting on Monday, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.
According to him, Moscow is seeking to undermine Ukraine's ability to export agricultural products, intimidate commercial shipping and exert pressure on global food markets.
Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion, at least 1,054 port infrastructure facilities and 232 civilian vessels have been damaged or partially destroyed. As a result of Russia's campaign of terror targeting Ukraine's port infrastructure and shipping, 307 civilians have been killed or injured, the diplomat said.
He said that in June and July alone, Russia attacked nearly 50 cargo vessels, killing more than 30 people.
