Three people have been arrested over Monday’s deadly explosion at a vinegar plant near Corinth in southern Greece which killed one person and injured another.
The 47-year-old owner of the factory, the 46-year-old safety officer and the 46-year-old foreman are expected to face negligence-linked charges.
The explosion at Examilia near the town of Corinth killed a 67-year-old external associate believed to have been doing welding work near a gas tank, and lightly injured a 37-year-old factory employee.
Fire Service experts believe flammable gas leaked out of the tank, and are trying to ascertain whether this predated the work or whether the welding caused the gas to slowly escape and ignite.
The explosion occurred about 13:30 and was heard up to 20 kilometers away from Examilia. Five people were in the building at the time.
