July 27 (UPI) -- Elijah Bieniemy, the son of Kansas City Chiefs assistant Eric Bieniemy, was arrested and charged with shooting his mother in Ashburn, Va., court records show.

The Chiefs said Monday that Mia Bieniemy, who was shot Sunday night at her home, is in stable condition.

Loudoun juvenile and domestic relations district court records show that Elijah Bieniemy, apprehended Monday, faces felony charges of malicious wounding, use of a firearm in a felony and discharge of a firearm inside of a dwelling, stemming from a Sunday incident.

"Out of respect for their privacy, we won't have a comment at this time," the Chiefs said in a statement. "Our thoughts and prayers are with them."
