The son of Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy has been arrested following a shooting at Bieniemy's home in Virginia, authorities told USA TODAY Sports.At approximately 7:32 p.m. on Sunday, July 26, Loudoun County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a report of a shooting in Ashburn, Virginia, where the Washington Commanders have their practice facility. Deputies located one adult female suffering from multiple gunshot wounds who was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of serious injuries.Chiefs coach Andy Reid said on Monday, July 27, that Bieniemy's wife, Mia Bieniemy, 57, was in stable condition after the incident.Elijah Bieniemy arrestedElijah Zion Bieniemy, 27, was arrested on charges of malicious wounding, use of a firearm in commission of a felony, discharge of a firearm inside of a dwelling. He was transported to the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center and held without bond.Online court records say that Elijah Bieniemy was arraigned Monday morning and will have a preliminary hearing on Aug. 31.The Chiefs confirmed to USA TODAY Sports that Bieniemy is currently away from the team."The club is aware of the incident involving Eric Bieniemy’s family," the team said in a statement. "Out of respect for their privacy, we won’t have a comment at this time. Our thoughts and prayers are with them."According to property records, Eric and Mia Bieniemy own a house on the 20000 block of Northpark Drive in Ashburn, Virginia, where the alleged shooting took place, according to the release.Bieniemy was the Chiefs' offensive coordinator from 2018 to 2022 and returned to the role for the 2026 season.
