The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office said 27-year-old Elijah Bieniemy was taken into custody after deputies found Mia with multiple gunshot wounds at the family’s Ashburn, Virginia, home on Sunday evening. Mia was taken to a hospital and is reported to be in stable condition. When officers arrived, they found an adult woman suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. She was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. Officials later identified the suspect as Elijah Zion Bieniemy, the 27-year-old son of Eric and Mia Bieniemy. Authorities charged Elijah Bieniemy with malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and discharge of a firearm inside of a dwelling. He is being held without bond at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center. Investigators also said they do not believe there is any ongoing threat to the public. No further details about what led to the shooting have been released. Eric Bieniemy leaves Kansas City Chiefs training camp to support Mia BieniemyAt the time of the shooting, Eric Bieniemy was with the Kansas City Chiefs at training camp in St. Joseph, Missouri. After learning about the incident, he left the team to be with his wife. Earlier, the Chiefs confirmed they were aware of the situation involving Bieniemy’s family and asked for privacy as the family deals with the incident. Bieniemy returned to Kansas City earlier this year as the team’s offensive coordinator after spending time with the Washington Commanders, UCLA and the Chicago Bears. He was part of the Chiefs coaching staff during two Super Bowl-winning seasons and remains one of the league’s most respected assistant coaches.The investigation remains active, and authorities have not shared any additional information about the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Officials have also not announced when more details may become available.
