Gholamhossein Mohseni-Ejei, Chief Justice of the Islamic Republic of Iran, described the annual Arbaeen pilgrimage as a symbol of the “soft power of the Islamic Ummah” during a meeting of the Supreme Judiciary Council on Monday, July 27. Simultaneously criticising the United States and regional governments, he warned that trusting Washington and relying on its promises yields nothing but defeat.
Stating that “the soft power of the Islamic Ummah, generated by the passion and fervour of Arbaeen, is matchless,” Mohseni-Ejei asserted that certain regional rulers must realise that trusting the U.S. and “taking heart in the promises of the Great Satan” brings only failure and ruin.
The Judiciary Chief also issued a warning to regional governments and European nations, stating that leaders who place their territories at the disposal of the United States to commit what he termed “war crimes” face “no favourable end.”
In another part of his address, he cautioned against complacency within Iran: “The Islamic Republic must not assume that the enemy has abandoned its actions.” Mohseni-Ejei added that whenever the enemy reaches a point of desperation, it attempts to pursue its objectives through new tactics.
