A police spokesperson announced that law enforcement is increasing the number of officers to be deployed for the main Pride demonstration in Hamburg, scheduled for Saturday, without providing precise figures. "Both before, during, and after the demonstration, we will ensure a strong presence and will be available to participants," they added. Organizers expect 250,000 people to attend the Hamburg demonstration, which is part of the city's Christopher Street Day events, the name by which Pride is referred to in Germany.
Although there is no specific information about threats related to the Hamburg events, the police clarify, Germany is facing a generally high threat level, and security authorities therefore remain vigilant. Law enforcement will rely on its proven operational plan, which includes security along the route and barriers to prevent vehicles from driving into the crowd.
