Australia’s Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) has announced the funding under its Grid Enhancing Technologies (GET) Grant Program. The programme runs from 2025-26 to 2028-29 and provides individual grants of up to AU$5 million per project on a competitive basis.
According to DCCEEW, the projects aim to”help move more renewable energy across the grid and support better use of rooftop solar, batteries, and EVs”. On the EV side, the department’s website cites projects covering vehicle-to-grid technology and smart EV charging (i.e. flexible pricing based on grid demand) will be supported. Successful recipients of grants on the electromobility front include Jet Charge, for its project ‘Realising Network Benefits from Vehicle-to-Grid’; plus Charge Hub Australia, for the project titled ‘From Anxiety to Access: Designing Dynamic Pricing that Customers Will Want’.
These are being funded alongside new solutions for renewable energy projects, grid capacity, and battery management. For example, the GET Grant Program will support initiatives such as shared solar and battery solutions for apartment buildings, tools to improve renewable energy connections, and technologies that increase grid stability during periods of high solar generation.
