The Australian goverment has formally committed Australia to a new global electrification initiative called Electrify Now, which was launched as part of London Climate Action Week (20-28 June 2026).
Australia did so, in unison with Canada and the United Kingdom (UK), which reiterated their mutual commitment to the United Nations (UN) Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and to the goals of the Paris Agreement.
Federal Minister for Climate Change and Energy Chris Bowen was joined in making the commitment formal, by Canada Minister for the Environment, Climate Change and Nature Julie Dabrusin, and the UK Minister for Climate Katie White.
A joint statement said the countries mutually recognized the immediacy with which they must act to secure a clean energy future, following a prolonged period of global disruptions to energy security, markets and supply chains.
