Controversial businessman Vusimuzi 'Cat' Matlala

Vusimuzi "Cat" Matlala and two of his co-accused have been granted Saturday visits from friends and family, as their trial resumes on Monday for a second week.

It is expected that the court will continue with a trial within a trial, in which it must decide whether evidence gathered when accused number one, Musa Kekana, was arrested can be used against him.

The Saturday visits were granted after the men's advocates told the Johannesburg High Court on Friday that they had not been able to see anyone since the trial began a week ago.

The prison allows visitors only on weekdays during working hours, and they have been in court every one of those days.
