IDAC head Advocate Andrea Johnson has requested immediate release from office amid mounting scrutiny.

Investigating Directorate Against Corruption head Advocate Andrea Johnson has asked to be released from office.

Johnson, a career prosecutor with three decades of service, made the request in a letter to the national director of public prosecutions, copied to President Cyril Ramaphosa.

She asked to be let go within 24 hours, waiving the three-month notice period in her contract.

NPA spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago confirmed to IOL that the letter had been received.
