At least two offers arrived in August 2025, including a reportedly significant bid from a Premier League club. Both were declined, not just by Barcelona’s front office, but by Martín himself, who made clear he wants to stay at Camp Nou.
Why Barcelona is holding firm
Martín recently signed a contract extension through June 2028, locking in one of the club’s most versatile defensive options for the foreseeable future.
Coach Hansi Flick is reportedly a major advocate for keeping Martín in the squad. The defender’s ability to operate as both a left-back and a centre-back gives Flick tactical flexibility that’s hard to replace on the transfer market.
