Police are investigating two separate murder cases following the discovery of a man's body at Monwabisi Beach in Macassar and a fatal shooting in Newfields Village, Philippi.
Macassar police opened a murder case after the body of an unidentified man was found at Monwabisi Beach on Friday, July 24 at about 8am.
Provincial police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk said the man had sustained an open wound to the head.
"The body was found on the beach with head injuries. The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation. The motive forms part of the police investigation," he said.
