Two high-value properties owned by former PRASA Group Chief Executive Officer Tshepo Lucky Montana have been frozen by the Special Tribunal after the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) traced what it describes as a direct money trail linking the assets to a controversial R5.6 billion rail security contract.
The preservation order prevents Montana from selling, transferring, leasing, encumbering or otherwise dealing with the properties while the SIU pursues civil recovery proceedings arising from its investigation into PRASA’s Integrated Security Access Management System (ISAMS) project.
The assets at the centre of the order are a luxury Hurlingham property in Johannesburg purchased for R13.5 million and a Waterkloof property in Pretoria acquired for R2.25 million.
The Tribunal also instructed the Registrar of Deeds to place caveats on the title deeds to prevent any unauthorised transactions involving the properties.
