A leaked audio recording of an intercepted telephone conversation allegedly between Star Sabga and her niece Genevieve Hadeed reveals Sabga launching a series of angry attacks on Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar, urging her removal from office.In an affidavit filed in court last Friday, Homeland Security Minister Roger Alexander disclosed the intercepted conversations as he defended his decision to keep Sabga in preventive detention.In the leaked tape, which created a stir across social media yesterday, Sabga repeatedly lashed out at the Prime Minister, accusing her administration of targeting people who had nothing to do with crime and alleging that innocent people were being unfairly accused.Hadeed at one stage interjected, saying that the Attorney General “was trying to say that the US have their special services and if you are doing crime they will get to you”.Sabga rejected that assertion, describing it as a “damn lie” and insinuating that United States President Donald Trump disliked Persad-Bissessar and was refusing to take her calls because of her race.She also said she did not understand what the Prime Minister was doing and accused her of “making enemies every Monday morning”.‘One per cent’US visas revokedSabga further alleged that Persad-Bissessar was listening to Attorney General John Jeremie, who had switched from the People’s National Movement (PNM) to the United National Congress (UNC).The discussion then turned to Jeremie’s comments regarding members of the “one per cent” whose US visas had been revoked.As Hadeed remarked that the country was heading down a “nasty road”, Sabga maintained that innocent people were being accused.Hadeed lamented that “our time is over”.Sabga questioned why that should be the case, to which Hadeed replied: “We were supporters of the PNM—that is why they saying we had too much under them.”‘Deadly route’Sabga accused the Prime Minister of destroying the country with claims she said were untrue before allegedly making further racist remarks about Persad-Bissessar.Hadeed told Sabga she had no idea how bad the situation was, while Sabga said the controversy was “all over the newspaper”, referring to the Attorney General’s reported comments.Sabga also spoke about business owners and employers, saying they worked hard and employed large numbers of people.She then declared: “We should get together, let our big men get together and lambaste her a**. You want to take the visa, shove it up your ***... Look, you see this lady, she going down a deadly, deadly, dangerous route. I am telling you that. I am telling you that. You understand? Deadly route. She better fix her a** up and get that stinking John Jeremie ..... out anyway.”Sabga also commented on the construction of the new US Embassy at the former site of the Country Club, describing it as “such a dangerous place” because of its proximity to the Chinese Embassy.She emphasised that business owners were hardworking and employed “black people”.The conversation also touched on the ongoing state of emergency, with Sabga claiming it was being maintained because it stripped people of their rights.She repeated her claim that Trump hated Persad-Bissessar because of her race while simultaneously suggesting that the Prime Minister was being controlled by the United States.‘Devil work’Turning back to local politics, Sabga said Trinidad and Tobago was a sovereign State and that citizens had elected a Government which they should “never have”.She then added: “Riot the damn blasted place and get that bit** out of office.” Hadeed responded that time would reveal everything.The pair also discussed reports that approximately 20 people had allegedly lost their US visas.Sabga questioned who those individuals were.Hadeed replied that Arabs would not reveal themselves and that her husband was the only “brave soul” who had come forward publicly.Sabga continued her criticism of Persad-Bissessar, alleging that she was placing Trinidad and Tobago in a “state of danger”.Hadeed attempted to calm the discussion, saying the situation was “devil work” and that it would “cool down”.Sabga disagreed, saying: “This will never cool down, Genna. Something have to happen for this to cool down. And what have to happen for this to cool down is the death of one of a member of Parliament.”The conversation continued, with Sabga questioning what intelligence the Americans possessed.Hadeed replied that the US Embassy was protecting itself and had indicated that her husband had “no ties”.She said the Embassy had made no allegations relating to drugs because such claims could expose it to legal action for wrongful accusation.Sabga continued criticising the Prime Minister, calling her “wicked” and “nasty” and accusing her of following a “dangerous path” by listening to the United States.She also claimed that people were ready to “blow up” the United States because of its role in conflicts around the world, and she continued criticising Trump, including his actions involving Venezuela.In the conversation, Sabga stated that the only way the situation would stop was “if a bullet fly”.
