A leaked audio recording of an alleged intercepted conversation between Star Sabga and her niece, Genevieve Hadeed, has ignited widespread concern among Opposition members, several of whom have taken to social media to criticise the leak of a matter currently under police investigation.The leaked audio follows the release of Dominic and Genevieve Hadeed from detention on Thursday and the continued detention of Sabga, who is yet to be charged and is awaiting hearing of a constitutional challenge for her release.According to the leaked 15-minute recording, both women were engaging in a private conversation via phone in which Sabga was ranting about Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar, Attorney General John Jeremie and members of the Government.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Richard Smith told the Sunday Express yesterday that the leak “would be investigated, because as you know, it was a case that was under investigation—meaning the issue with the Hadeeds at first, and...to have this come out now, it would obviously be investigated—that is: the leak, in collaboration with the initial investigation that was taking place”.Asked if the police had any idea who may have leaked the audio, ACP Smith said, “I cannot say at this time but an investigation will be able to unearth that.”
