CSIR-Central Electrochemical Research Institute (CSIR-CECRI), Karaikudi celebrated its 79th Foundation Day here on Saturday.
J. Mathiyarasu, Scientist-G, CSIR-CECRI, welcoming the dignitaries and the large gathering in his address traced the origin of the institute and appealed to the CECRI fraternity to reaffirm themselves to the vision of the institute in its future endeavours as well.
K. Ramesha, Director,CSIR-CECRI, highlighted the path-breaking technological contributions of CSIR-CECRI including Titanium Substrate Insoluble Anode (TSIA), prevention and mitigation of corrosion, energy devices – batteries, supercapacitors, fuel cells, electrolysers, etc., and recovery of rare Earth & critical minerals.
Similar to two sides of the same coin, fundamental research and applied research should be given due and equal weightage in all possible ways for the overall growth of the Institute, he opined.
He further listed out the achievements of the institute and progress made in the preceding year - Research-Industry-Startup-Entrepreneurship (RISE) Conclave 2026 held at Chennai, new R&D projects, technology transfers, creation of additional R&D infrastructure, opening of CV Raman International Scholars Hostel, addition of new PhD Scholars, IDDP Scholars & B.Tech.
