The seized liquor was confiscated by the SARS Customs Unit, while police opened a criminal case for further investigation. No arrests were made at the time of issuing the statement.
A joint operation in Stellenbosch has resulted in the seizure of R12 million in illicit liquor.
The law enforcement operation took place in Plankenburg, Stellenbosch, on Thursday, July 16.
The operation was carried out by the police, the Western Cape Liquor Authority and the South African Revenue Service (SARS) Customs Unit following information received about an alleged illicit liquor storage facility in the area.
