Fake liquor was confiscated.

The SANDF, together with the Counterfeit Unit, Liquor Authority, and SARS in Eerste River, has led to the discovery of a liquor store with suspected fake alcohol worth R3.5 million, which was planned for export.

Police arrested a Chinese national at the scene after 6,201 litres of various liquor products were confiscated.

Police spokesperson Thembakazi Mpendukana explained: “A joint operation between the Counterfeit Unit, Liquor Authority, SARS, and SANDF in Eerste River resulted in the discovery of a liquor store with suspected fake alcohol that is planned for export purposes.

“On Tuesday, May 26, at approximately 10 am, the members of Operation Prosper approached the shop owned by the aforementioned adult male suspect.
