The Nvidia CEO used an Axios interview on July 23, 2026, to push back against what he sees as fearmongering driving AI regulation in Washington. His core argument is straightforward. The notion that artificial intelligence will wipe out half of American jobs or pose an existential threat to humanity is, in his words, “complete nonsense.”
The letter, the platform, and the timing
On July 24, 2026, Huang made his debut on X by sharing a letter co-signed by Nvidia, Microsoft, Meta, and Palantir. The letter advocated for the continued development of both frontier closed and open-weight AI models.
The timing was deliberate. Washington is in the middle of an increasingly tense debate about how to handle Chinese AI competition, particularly models like Moonshot AI’s Kimi, while simultaneously trying to accelerate domestic AI adoption.
