Hands-free unlocking with Ultra-Wideband tech
Altland started this year by moving into a new apartment, and subsequently installing her very first smart lock. She has been loving how easy it makes unlocking the front door thanks to tap-to-unlock features, and now, Schlage’s newest release has challenged her to make the experience even more effortless.
The new Sense Pro Smart Lock has all the novel features you’d expect from a modern day smart home gadget. Packed within the metal housing comes in either Satin Nickel or Matte Black finishes is a touchscreen display for unlocking with a passcode, support for the Matter smart home standard and even the ability to unlock with the NFC Apple Home Key tech that Altland has personally grown to rely on with her existing deadbolt. But what really sets Schlage’s new offering apart is the its Ultra-Wideband sensor that calculates your speed, trajectory and motion to the door in order to unlock before you even reach for the doorknob. It’s the same technology that makes Apple’s AirTags the best Bluetooth trackers we’ve used, and allows the lock to know exactly where you are in correlation to your front door.
