India’s exports of value added coffees rose by around 46 per cent over the past three years to $686 million during 2025-26, according to the Government.In a written reply to the parliament, Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, Jitin Prasada said the export of value added coffee has increased from $468 million to $686 million during the period 2023-24 to 2025-26, showing a growth of 46.58 per cent. Overall India’s coffee exports touched $2083 million during 2025-26, an increase of 15 per cent over previous year’s $1803 tonnes. Karnataka is the largest exporter of coffees and value of shipments stood at $1398 million during 2025-26, followed by Andhra Pradesh at $339.33 million and Tamil Nadu at 93.08 million.India’s coffee production during 2025-26 stood at 3.73 lakh tonnes, an increase over previous year’s 3.63 lakh tonnes. Karnataka tops the list of coffee producing states with an output of 2.56 lakh tonnes, followed by Kerala with 80,350 tonnes and Tamil Nadu with 19,975 tonnes. Andhra Pradesh is the fourth largest producer with an output of 15,290 tonnes.The Minister said Coffee Board helps to promote value added coffees including freeze-dried instant coffees sold in retail packs, which ‘Coffees of India’ logo in retail packs and also depict the words indicating ‘Made in India’, he said.The Board, through its Integrated Coffee Development Project (ICDP) provides support to the coffee curing units for upgrading the machinery through introduction of improved technologies in coffee processing at the curing state. Besides, the Board also provides support to Roast and Ground units for establishment of coffee roasting, grinding and packaging machinery, he said.Though Coffee Board does not maintain the domestic coffee consumption data separately, it had assessed through a study done in 2023-24 that the domestic consumption was around 91,000 metric tonnes, out of total coffee production of 360,500 metric tonnes in 2023-24.Published on July 24, 2026
