Air Traffic and Navigation Services (ATNS) has hit back at FlySafair's claims that air traffic control constraints are limiting the airline's growth, describing the allegations as "inaccurate and misleading".
The response follows media reports that FlySafair said air traffic control challenges, including capacity constraints at busy airports such as OR Tambo International Airport, had become a factor in how the airline plans its schedules and future expansion.
ATNS said it had asked FlySafair to provide details supporting its claims, including specific dates on which operations were delayed due to staff shortages or a lack of flight procedures.
"Air Traffic and Navigation Services (ATNS) has noted with concern the inaccurate and misleading remarks made by FlySafair in which the airline alleges that its growth prospects have been constrained by lack of capacity on the part of ATNS."
