Image: Jouni Immonen / YleYle News7:52The Finnish Defence Forces (FDF) issued temporary aviation and maritime restrictions affecting parts of the Gulf of Finland due to Ukraine's drone attacks on Russia early on Friday morning.The restrictions were issued at 2.46am and then lifted at 6:56am on Friday.According to the FDF, the restrictions were a precautionary measure aimed at ensuring the safety of bystanders and Finland's ability to combat potential stray drones.Ukraine carried out major drone strikes in Russia's St Petersburg area overnight, targeting two logistics centres belonging to Russian online retailer Wildberries.Eyewitness accounts in the Russian city said the centres were on fire.St Petersburg regional governor, Alexander Beglov, confirmed that unmanned aerial vehicles had struck the city.According to Ukraine, Wildberries' huge warehouses are considered military targets because the company sells a large amount of military goods to the Russian army.Finland's Coast Guard and the FDF are still planning to hold scheduled military drills in the same area affected by Friday morning's airspace and maritime restrictions, off the coast of Kotka.
