July 23 (Asia Today) -- South Korea unveiled a strategy Thursday to transform its ports into fully autonomous logistics systems that operate like giant intelligent robots using physical artificial intelligence.
The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries said it will first test the technology at Gwangyang Port before introducing a leading physical AI model across the first phase of Jinhae New Port, which is scheduled to open in 2032.
The government aims to increase port productivity by 30%, prevent workplace accidents and capture 10% of the global port equipment market by 2035.
The strategy was presented at a meeting of science and technology ministers under the vision of making South Korea a global leader in smart ports through domestically developed physical AI technology.
