Ajinomoto (Thailand) Co, the producer of Ajinomoto seasoning and Birdy ready-to-drink coffee, says amid higher production costs it is not ruling out the possibility of raising product prices.Diesel prices have declined from their peak in early April, when they exceeded 50 baht per litre, to above 35 baht per litre yesterday.
However, prices remain much higher than before the Middle East conflict, when they were around 30 baht per litre.
According to the Thai Tapioca Starch Association, domestic tapioca starch prices, a key ingredient in the company's production, surpassed 22 baht per kilogramme this week, the highest level in at least a decade.
"There is a possibility we may adjust market prices to maintain product quality and ensure a stable supply," said Satoshi Utagawa, managing director of Ajinomoto (Thailand) Co.
