The Tokyo E-Prix is returning for its third season, with the double-header weekend being the first-ever double night street race event in Japan, as the summer heat keeps daytime temperatures a matter of concern. As a result, the GEN3 EVO cars will compete under the lights of the iconic Tokyo Big Sight.Tokyo E-Prix may decide fate of Formula E championshipThe 2026 Tokyo E-Prix marks the penultimate race weekend of Formula E Season 12, with nine points separating current championship leader Pascal Wehrlein of Porsche and Jaguar TCS Racing's Mitch Evans, who is second in the drivers' standings. All eyes will be on Pascal Wehrlein in Tokyo, who snatched the championship lead from Mitch Evans during a tense battle in Shanghai and has a strong record in Tokyo after finishing second there last season.In the Teams' Standings, Jaguar TCS Racing is setting the pace, six points clear of nearest challenger Porsche. Meanwhile, it's the reverse in the Manufacturers' Standings, with Porsche leading the way on 384 points, 50 points ahead of Jaguar in second.Reigning Formula E champion Oliver Rowland has the most podiums in Tokyo, including his win last season. He is currently third in the title race, and another podium in Tokyo this time for the Nissan driver could change the course of the title race at this crucial stage.Formula E to pay tribute to Cyril Blais in TokyoIn light of the untimely death of Citroen Racing Team Principal Cyril Blais, the Citroen Racing Formula E Team and the wider Formula E community will honour his memory and his incredible legacy in the sport. As part of the tributes, a one-minute silence will be held on the grid ahead of the Round 14 race on Saturday, July 25.Cyril died at the age of 46. His death was announced earlier this week.The 2026 TDK Tokyo E-Prix will be powered by renewable energy (HVO), helping to drive down CO2 emissions by up to 90 per cent across the entire life cycle.
