Metu and Muzi Mahlambi.

THE KwaZulu-Natal Department of Education (KZN DoE) has launched an independent investigation into allegations that its spokesperson, Muzi Mahlambi, and his wife, Umlazi District Director Metu Mahlambi, were involved in the alleged sale of employment posts, following the circulation of a viral video.

The investigation follows the emergence of a controversial video on social media showing a heated domestic dispute.

In the video, Metu, who is seen holding the cellphone, accused her husband of allegedly having sexual relationships with people seeking teacher jobs, and selling teaching posts. However, the couple has since issued a statement stating that the video was recorded about four years ago.

They apologised for the language, accusations, and conduct displayed in that video. They said that the recording captured an intensely emotional moment during a private marital conflict, and that they “deeply regret” that it had now become public.
