KwaZulu-Natal Department of Education spokesperson Muzi Mahlambi and his wife, Umlazi District Director Metu Mahlambi, have issued a joint statement apologising for a controversial leaked video that has been circulating on social media.
The video, which captured a highly charged domestic dispute, the wife is heard making severe allegations against the education spokesperson, including infidelity and the alleged selling of teaching posts.
In the joint statement, the couple clarified that the footage is four years old and was recorded during a private marital conflict. They expressed deep regret that an "intensely emotional moment" has now been pushed into the public domain.
Addressing the specific claims made during the argument, the couple emphasised that the accusations were not grounded in truth.
