KwaZulu-Natal Department of Education acting Chief Director and spokesperson Muzi Mahlambi and his wife, Metu Mahlambi, the department's Umlazi District Director, have rejected allegations made in a viral leaked video in which she claimed her husband was involved in a sex-for-jobs scheme targeting educators seeking employment and in the alleged sale of teaching posts.

KwaZulu-Natal Department of Education acting chief director and spokesperson Muzi Mahlambi and his wife, Umlazi District Director Metu Mahlambi, have issued a joint statement apologising for a controversial video that has been circulating on social media.

The video, which captures a heated domestic dispute, features Metu Mahlambi making a series of serious allegations against her husband, including claims of infidelity and the alleged sale of teaching posts.

In the video, Mahlambi's wife alleges that he was having sexual relationships with educators seeking employment and was involved in the alleged sale of teaching posts. She further claims that, in his capacity as the department's spokesperson, he failed to address allegations surrounding the jobs-for-sale scandal because he was allegedly implicated in it himself.

In their statement, the couple said the footage was recorded four years ago during a private marital conflict and expressed regret that what they described as an "intensely emotional moment" had entered the public domain.
