As the Ebola outbreak continues to spread in neighbouring DRC, South Africa is ramping up its response measures
With the Ebola outbreak in northeastern DRC claiming over 900 lives since May, a wave of anxiety sweeps South Africa as the threat of the virus crossing borders grows ever more real.
The Department of Health has moved quickly, preparing 36 hospitals nationwide to stand ready against any possible outbreak.
Health Minister Dr Aaron Motsoaledi recently assured the nation during an interview with the SABC that South Africa is taking bold, decisive steps to stop the virus in its tracks.
’’There is Ebola in the region of SADC in the DRC, but also in East Africa, which is very close to SADC in Uganda. So theoretically there's a chance that any of the countries on the continent and even off the continent might get Ebola.
