Astareh (Maryam) Ansari and Bahar Sahraian, two defense attorneys detained in Shiraz over the past two months, have been released on bail from Adelabad Prison.
According to information obtained by IranWire, Astareh (Maryam) Ansari was released on bail from Shiraz’s Adelabad Prison at noon on Wednesday, July 22, after more than two months in detention. She was arrested by security forces at her home in Shiraz on May 4 and subsequently transferred to Adelabad Prison.
Ansari is a prominent Shiraz-based attorney who, alongside her legal practice, has been active in public-interest initiatives. During the nationwide protests in January, she represented several detained protesters pro bono. She also signed a statement issued by 48 defense lawyers denouncing the “collapse of the rule of law” and the “violation of the rights” of detained protesters.
According to IranWire, these activities were cited among the allegations against her, and she currently faces charges of “assembly and collusion against national security” and “propaganda against the regime. Additionally, HRANA reported that defense attorney Bahar Sahraian was released on bail from Adelabad Prison on Tuesday, July 21, after nearly two months in detention.
