BBC Breakfast host Naga Munchetty spoke with Chief Secretary to the Treasury Emma Reynolds on Thursday morning.09:06, 23 Jul 2026Updated 09:06, 23 Jul 2026BBC viewers were less than impressed by Naga Munchetty during the latest edition of the morning show.‌During Thursday's instalment (July 23), the BBC Breakfast star welcomed Emma Reynolds, the newly appointed Chief Secretary to the Treasury to the programme.‌It comes after the government announced that pubs, clubs and music venues in England would be given a 20% cut in business rates from April.‌However, during their conversation, it was clear the MP wasn't thrilled with Naga not letting her answer the questions being asked. After highlighting that the likes of restaurants, hotels and cafes won't be getting the same 'breathing room' as the sectors with the 20% cut, Naga asked: "Your announcements, the cuts you're making, those announcements come in in the next tax year."So, why are you not offering some breathing room, or at least less stress to those other in the sector?"‌Emma Reynolds began to answer, although she was cut off by Naga as she commented: "As I've said, we will look at this in the round for the Autumn budget, but obviously any announcement. Can I just-"Naga interrupted, adding: "No, because you're not really answering the question."‌The MP spoke over the BBC star saying: "I'm about to answer your question, only if you'd let me speak."Naga told the guest that she assured her there would be an opportunity to continue; however, she reiterated her point on there being no relief for other businesses.It wasn't long before people commented on the interview, with many unimpressed by how it went.‌On X, one person said: "Naga was awful. She kept interrupting. Why ask a question when you won't let her answer?" Someone else shared: "She always has to go too far."However, there were some viewers who praised Naga's assertive form of questioning.
