Naga, 51, has been at the helm of the BBC breakfast show for nearly two decades but in a shock statement yesterday, she confirmed she was leaving to front Radio 5 Live Breakfast, taking over from hosts Rachel Burden and Rick Edwards.‌It means her stint on BBC Breakfast will come to an end, with a source telling The Mirror: "The new job for Naga seems the best result for everyone. It was not a happy ship on Breakfast. However you look at it, hosting BBC Breakfast is a much bigger job than working on Five Live." Another source added: "After all the turmoil, it’s clear a reset is needed."‌Now, talk has turned to who will replace Naga as the top female star on the BBC show. It is claimed that fellow anchor Sally Nugent will become the "future of the show".‌"Bosses were thrilled with Sally Nugent’s recent interview with Nigel Farage and called down to say they wanted Sally covering more chats of that ilk. That used to be Naga’s domain," a source told The Sun. "It was obviously compared to the Kemi car crash from Naga. Everyone sees Sally as the future of the show and more generally the vibe is all about positivity for a new chapter."Sally clashed with the Reform leader in a tense showdown as she questioned him on why he failed to declare a £5 million donation and questioned how much of the money he had spent. She also challenged Farage over political mandates when he demanded a general election, pointing out questions regarding his own party's alignment. Farage snapped back, claiming the spending details were "literally none of your business" and counter-attacked by comparing his situation to Nugent's and Nick Robinson's BBC salaries‌Naga's exit from BBC Breakfast marks the end of a turbulent year for the presenter, who was formally investigated for bullying.
