The Lola Yamaha ABT driver had a wonderful run in Tokyo last season and now hopes to repeat or better that performance this weekend. Di Grassi has just four races to go before he retires from professional racing at the end of this season. Rounds 14 and 15 are scheduled in Tokyo on 25 and 26 July. Here’s what the Formula E veteran said ahead of the Tokyo double-header.Lucas Di Grassi speaks up ahead of the 2026 Tokyo E-PrixTalking about his recent win in the last race in Shanghai, Di Grassi said, “Achieving the first ever victory for Lola was a truly special moment in my career and of course a massive boost for the team who have been working so hard over the past two seasons. The first time I raced in China with Formula E I won, and therefore to get my second podium and first victory for Lola at my last race in China was the perfect way to close this chapter. The fact this win means Lola has now won in every category of international open-wheel racing is even more special.”Shifting his focus to the Tokyo E-Prix, he added, “It’s also great to have this result just before heading to Yamaha’s home race in Tokyo. We showed good pace in Japan last year, scoring 10 points in the second race and we hope to repeat, or even better, that performance this weekend.”Lucas Di Grassi enjoys boat ride with team in JapanAfter their arrival in Japan, Lucas Di Grassi and team-mate Zane Maloney joined their Lola Yamaha ABT team-mates for a boat ride. A video from the outing was shared by the team on Instagram with the caption: “A warm Tokyo welcome from our @yamaharacingjapan family. From visiting their Regenerative Lab to sharing a team-bonding boat ride, it was the perfect way to begin race week. Arigato gozaimasu (thank you very much)!”A day earlier, Di Grassi had shared his excitement for the upcoming race. Sharing a picture from his win in Shanghai, he wrote: “Hello TOKYO EPRIX NIGHT RACE. It is going to be amazing. I love Japan.”The Tokyo E-Prix begins on Friday with the practice session.
