The beverage brand’s largest marketing push pairs its zero-sugar positioning with an ambassador known for saying the quiet part out loud.

A guidance counselor tells a mother that her son is “still finding his footing academically.” Cardi B, sitting in on the meeting in a head-to-toe coordinated look with a can of Zevia’s Creamy Root Beer, eases into the frame to supply the plain-English version: “He’s saying your son is stupid.”

That exchange anchors Real Talk Interpreter, the national campaign Zevia — the zero-sugar, naturally sweetened soda brand — launched July 21 with the megastar rapper, who signed on as a brand ambassador and shareholder earlier this year. Developed alongside creative studio De-Yan under chief creative officer Jason Kreher, the work casts Cardi B as a live interpreter of social subtext, appearing during highly relatable moments when someone says one thing and means another.
