The World Cup just ended, but there’s another one next year, and this time the United States enters as the favorite.The 2027 World Cup is roughly 11 months away, and the United States women’s national team is the early betting favorite on DraftKings. The USWNT is +350 to win, with defending champion Spain right behind at +400.Americans love betting on American national teams, of course, so DraftKings could be tempted to give the United States slightly shorter odds to cover that. Sportsbooks don’t typically move odds far from their internal projections, but it’s possible the U.S. is getting a slight nudge, enough so that the Americans and Spain might be closer to co-favorites otherwise. Even with the odds as listed, it’s a very small gap between those top two nations.“Team USA is always one of the biggest draws in international soccer, so we fully expect them to be one of our most popular World Cup futures,” said Johnny Avello, DraftKings director of sports operations. “While that level of support can influence the odds, our priority is making sure the price remains fair and accurately reflects their chances of winning. We won’t move the line simply because a team is popular, and that’s the same philosophy we applied to the U.S. men’s team this summer. There’s still plenty of time before 2027, but that’s the approach we’ll continue to take.”The top two teams in the odds are the top two squads in FIFA’s rankings. Brazil went out in the group stage in 2023 and in the round of 16 in the two World Cups prior to that. The Lionesses were third at the 2015 World Cup, third at Euro 2017, fourth at the 2019 World Cup, won Euro 2022, were finalists at the 2023 World Cup and won Euro 2025. The consistency over that period is as good as it gets in the women’s game, but it’s still missing a World Cup title.England still has to qualify after finishing behind Spain in a four-team qualifying group. The Lionesses have to get past Greece and the winner of Slovakia-Ukraine in two-legged playoffs to advance and is expected to do so without much trouble.After the top four, Japan and France both come in at +1000 (10-to-1) with two-time champion Germany at 12-to-1.
