Students being screened during the eye camp held in Erode in Tamil Nadu on Wednesday

More than 1,500 students from Classes I to IX, along with teaching and non-teaching staff, benefited from an eye health awareness and screening camp held at Carmel Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Kollampalayam, on Wednesday (July 22, 2026).The camp was organised by the Carmel Alumni Association in coordination with Acchutha Eye Care to promote early detection of vision problems and create awareness on eye health among schoolchildren.The programme was jointly inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Anil, Correspondent, Rev. Fr. JoJo, Principal, and Rev. Fr. Eljo, Administrator. K.E. Harshini, Secretary of the association’s Women’s Wing Committee, welcomed the gathering, while C. Santhanam, an alumnus, proposed the vote of thanks.Jayapranesh, an alumnus of the school and Consultant Ophthalmologist at Acchutha Eye Care, delivered an awareness session on maintaining good eye health and preventing vision-related problems. He advised students to limit prolonged screen time, maintain proper viewing distance while using televisions and mobile phones, and adopt healthy eye-care practices.A team of ophthalmologists and optometrists from Acchutha Eye Care conducted comprehensive eye examinations.
