South African media personality Anele Mdoda-Mgudlwa has joined the public debate surrounding the Department of Home Affairs’ legal battle against former beauty queen Chidimma Adetshina.
Adetshina appeared before the Cape Town Regional Court on Monday, July 20, as she continued to challenge the Department of Home Affairs’ efforts to deport her from South Africa.
The department is seeking an order confirming her detention pending deportation, maintaining that she is not lawfully in the country.
It has asked the court for legal authority to detain her while deportation proceedings continue.
