The GT will become the first fully electric Range Rover based on the new Electrified Modular Architecture (EMA). JLR will build it alongside combustion-engined and hybrid models at its Halewood plant in the UK.

At launch, the GT will be available exclusively as a battery-electric vehicle. However, the platform also supports other powertrain options. Range Rover has already confirmed that it will add a full-hybrid variant later in the model’s lifecycle. The manufacturer has not yet disclosed technical specifications such as battery capacity, range, power output or DC charging performance.

Within JLR, the EMA platform will underpin smaller electrified models, including the forthcoming electric Range Rover Velar. Larger models such as the Range Rover Electric and Range Rover Sport Electric, by contrast, are based on the Modular Longitudinal Architecture (MLA). JLR will therefore use different platforms for its future electric model range.

Conceptually, the GT is designed to align more closely with the traditional grand tourer formula than previous Range Rover models. The camouflaged prototypes therefore feature a lower, coupé-like silhouette. At the same time, the model is expected to retain the off-road capability that defines the Range Rover brand.
