Lwanda Mxolisi Zungu has been convicted of the brutal murder of his wife, Tania Zungu.
The Pinetown Regional Court has convicted former soldier Lwanda Mxolisi Zungu of murdering his wife, whom he shot eight times in their Pinetown home on January 3, 2024, while their two young sons and mother-in-law were inside the house.
Handing down judgment on Tuesday, Magistrate Muntukayise Khumalo found that the State proved its case beyond a reasonable doubt.
“We find, having regard to the evidence in its totality, that the State has succeeded in proving its case against the accused beyond a reasonable doubt,” Khumalo said.
Evidence before the court established that Zungu used a semi-automatic pistol loaded with hollow-point ammunition, which ballistic experts testified expands like mushrooms on impact.
